Sunday, May 29th:

Today our group slept in until 8:00; very possibly being the last time we don’t see the sun rise during this next month. We grabbed a quaint little breakfast at the hotel, and then got together for our constitutional meeting. We talked about safety, planning, and the expectations for the trip. Following a half hour of talking about the logistics of the trip, we brought the bikes out and worked out all of the kinks. With grease covered bodies, we suited up and set out for our first leg of the trip. We took pictures at Doheny State Beach and then rode back to the hotel, finishing off the first half mile of our 2902 mile trip across the United States! Following our 5 minutes bike ride we went to a local diner to get our last big meal before setting out tomorrow- a small little place just off of the beach. We loaded up with plenty of carbs and protein from some of the largest burgers that we’d ever seen! We’re going to have to wake up at 4:20 in the morning, so we’re going to bed early.
