We Set Off!

Friday, May 27th

Today is the day we hit the road on our way to LA! Jerry and Ed finished the last touches on the vehicle and showed up at my place at 7:00 sharp. With bikes on roof we set out for the freeway. Also today, we would like to congratulate President Stone on 45 years of marriage. :-) He remembered this about an hour into our drive leading us down to California. After a few hours of beautiful green scenery, we grabbed some lunch at subway and then headed back out. Right around noon we found our way across the border into the sunny state of Cali! At about 75 degress, it was an ideal temperature for a great car trip- however, we did trade our lush green landscape for a much less robust California horizon. Cities were few and far between, which presented a few issues as we practically rolled into a pilot station in Nor-Cal. Grabbing a quick burger at Wendy's to side us over, we set back out for the last 140 miles to Santa Nella. After arriving at Holiday Inn, we grabbed a quick dinner at Andersen's, which is famous for its delicious split pea soup, and proceeded to relax for the rest of our day.
